NEW PROJECT, NEW PROJECT!!
YEAH YEAH! Thats right, NEW PROJECT! Yeah! ok settling down now, back to reality. Last night I was surfing the net and fantasizing about how cool hovercrafts are and how cool it would be to have one when >>BING<< that little lightbulb went off! Now I remembered when on that great show, junkyard wars, two teams built two different hovercrafts in ten hours, out of junkyard parts, that worked! Well if they could do it, I thought, I can! I brought the idea to my friend, and he thought it was a great idea too, so off we went down to his basement to design on CAD.

About the craft
So far nothing has been accomplished but there are big plans being made as my rusty, summer fried brain started sparking. I have two designs in mind. One design is with a single engine with a prop blowing half of its air back, and some air diverted down. I dunno if this will be strong enough because i am only using the 4.5 HP engine off my mini. the other design is the mini engine blowing back, with a vertical shaft engine, like off a push mower, sits in front and blows down. The twin engine design is what we are probably using, because of the lack of power from one engine. For the skirt we will probably be using an air mattress with a hole cut in the bottom.

For the base we had two ideas. One is with a piece of plywood to support everything. the other is to have metal piping to suppert everything, then have the airmattress to cover everything on top and hold in the air. the second idea is iffy, but it would be alot lighter, so it would go faster, Hehe!

Hovercrafts can range in size from tiny (top picture) to gigantic (middle piture). I personly like the bottom one because it just looks cool.
