The motor The engine is a 4.5 HP Lauson (tecumpseh off brand) horizontal shaft engine off of a snowblower from the late 70's early 80's. nothing on the engine has been modified but I am wanting to get a 8HP Tecumpseh carb to pull out the horses make a custom header or just get a new muffler from a store. In September I will be taking a small gas engines class in school. In the class i will take my engine off my mini and take every thing apart, clean it, fix it, and then put it back together again. Right now I don't think it is making quite 4.5HP due to years and years of freazing usage and built up grease, grime and sludge. Hopefully taking it apart and putting it back together again will help free up those horses! |
| The Frame. The frame is a '75 Cat Muskin Slingshot. The origonal owner made modifications like change the seat back from almost flat to a mini sissybar. They also pulled the handlebars together and welded a support to get them to stay. I did that crappy paint job and then paint-thinnned it to the origonal ugly green that came factory stock. It will be eventually a better orange paint job. |

Wheels, brakes, clutch, chain, ect ect. . The wheels and tires are stock as well as the sprocket. I painted the sprocket silver because of its previously rusty stage. There was an ugly gold, tin trim that bolted to the wheels that I took off. The origonal brake caliper was cracked an the mount was twisted so I got a clutch brake. All it is is a band brake that raps around the clutch like it would a brake drum. I got a front brake but i havnt had time to atatch the drum to the wheel. The drilled holes in the drum don't fit so I will have to drill new holes to mount it. The clutch is just a standard cintrifical clutch from kart world, while the chain is a standard #35 from a Biker shop in the city. The guys in that store are big and scary. |

The Paint Job For the paint job I will use orange spray paint and chrome spray paint. For the chrome I will paint the top half of the handlebars and rechrome the posts where I might get shocks in the future and the "sissy" bar behind the seat. Then the cover to the engine will be chrome and the rest of the frame will be orange. |
